The lessons start with grooming.  This is a very important step not only to clean your horse but to build your connection with him.  Next we learn how to put on the tack correctly.  Did you know that when you attach your girth you should take your time so you do not hurt the horse?  Putting on the girth is like putting on a belt.   Most horses will "puff up" when you put on the saddle and go to attach the girth.  If you attach it and then put on the bridle and then adjust your girth again, in that time they will relax and you can tighten it more.  Going too fast hurts them and then they learn not to trust.  Finally we learn to mount, steer, walk, trot and at some point canter.

Lessons start with grooming time followed by a half  an hour of riding time.  During beginner lessons you will learn basic horse care and about the tack.  You will learn how to mount and dismount.  Steer, walk, trot and stop.  Beginning lessons are very important to learn to have a good and balanced seat and to build strong leg muscles.

Time will pass and you will advance to learning how to ride out of the round pen and in a larger area, while trotting and steering.  This will all lead to learning how to canter and at some point, if you would like, learning to jump.

We also have a 4H club, Hearts and Horseshoes, that children K-13 are welcome to join.  My main goal of this club is to help the children with the passion for horses, explore careers that they could have as adults.  We also do fun things like learn more about horses and horse care.  We work horse shows together and explore different types of riding.

LESSON PRICES:

$50.....1/2 hour of riding time and then grooming time.

$85.....for more advanced riders only....45 minutes of riding time and grooming time.

Riding Lessons

Hi, my name is Renee and when I was a little girl the only games I ever played involved horses.  I WAS the horse OR I pretended to be riding a horse OR I would play with my model horses.  Now I have two little girls and my life is again filled with the same wonderful games.  Life has blessed me with the gift of these beautiful animals and I share that gift with the children and adults that come to us. My horses are part of our family. I teach my students to build a relationship with and be partners with the horses they ride.
